The house is beautifully decorated, clean, and conveniently stocked with everything we needed. The beds are comfortable and the backyard and patio are gorgeous. Even though it was too cold to spend time outside on this visit, we enjoyed the patio and painted mural on the backyard wall by looking at the lovely view through the large wall of windows and sliding glass doors that lead to the backyard. The windows bring in lots of light, too. The weather was a bit dreary this time, but it was bright and pleasant inside the house. We also enjoyed the reliable wireless internet and the large smart flatscreen TV that gave us access to all of our favorite streaming channels. We hope to stay here again and again on future visits to Albuquerque. Highly recommended! |

The neighborhood is quiet and the Christmas deco all around was beautiful! This home has everything you could think of. We spent most of our time in the backyard which is such an amazing area. You can tell the homeowner cares about their home and has thought of it all in order to make your stay one of the best. We visited Sandia Peak's tramway which was 14 minutes from the home. Santa Fe was a straight shot of about an hour. We chose this home for our Thanksgiving vaca because we liked the deco and how the NM culture is all around it. Five stars, totally recommend and will save this home for our future trips to NM. Thank you Eloy for everything! We truly felt at home! |

It's clean and comfortable, delightfully decorated in Southwest style, and has everything we needed for a great stay. I did some cooking during our time there and found the kitchen to have every single thing I needed. It is meticulously supplied with dishes, pots and pans, essential utensils, and appliances that are all in great shape. (Quite a contrast to the hodgepodge of cooking tools in many Airbnb kitchens.) Eloy even provided a coffee grinder full of coffee beans for freshly ground coffee each morning. The bathroom showers were generously stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers. The speedy internet and smart TV delivered all of the technology we needed. Our favorite part of Bearhouse was the patio. It is beautiful and so well maintained. We ate every meal there. A stunning, brightly colored mural on the exterior wall of the patio adds even more flair to the atmosphere. The location is great and very near good restaurants, grocery stores, and other shopping. We visit family in Albuquerque frequently and have stayed in numerous Airbnbs there. Bearhouse is by far our favorite. Eloy is a gracious host and his communications were helpful and prompt. He anticipated every question we might have. We will always check for availability at Bearhouse on future visits. |

We enjoyed the outdoor courtyard as much as we enjoyed the indoor space. We are from Alabama and this was our first visit to New Mexico. We used the property as our home base while visiting other areas of the state. We had a wonderful time! We highly recommend this property!! |

Beautiful well maintained and cared for outdoor space. And importantly for this old non-techie geezer, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to operate the TV remote (that's right, singular). Our only regret was being so busy we didn't have much time to enjoy it all. |

It is located in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood very near to the Sandia Mountains. We came with our daughter as a graduation gift and we thoroughly enjoyed much of what Albuquerque had to offer : beautiful, scenic hiking, interesting museums and of course, the delicious food! Old Town Albuquerque was fun to explore, as well as the drive up Historic Route 66 to Santa Fe. All in all we had a wonderful experience, and would recommend the Turtle House, and Albuquerque, as a great place to stay and explore! |

We are native to Albuquerque and always look to stay in rentals vs. hotels when we return home to visit family & friends in the area. We were happy that this visit also coincided with the Balloon Fiesta!! The house was in a nice, quiet neighborhood, but had easy access to major roads a shopping. The house is stocked with all the essentials you will need to be comfortable during your stay. There was an issue with the washing machine during our stay (which was not a big deal for us), but the property manager made us aware of it ahead of time and stayed in communication with us throughout our stay to make sure we had what we needed. We really enjoyed having our morning coffee and evening glass of wine out on the private patio. As an added bonus, we had great views of the balloons during the Balloon Fiesta. Overall, we highly recommend this property and will plan to stay again, if possible, on a return visit to Albuquerque in the future!! |

Communicating with Eloy was easy and he was very responsive to any questions we had. The outdoor area with the fire pit was a highlight and so well done - the pictures don’t lie. Although the two bedrooms were somewhat small, the common areas made up for that shortcoming. It’s perfect for two couples or a small family. I would gladly rent this home again and therefore, do highly recommend Oso Grande. |

Very clean, backyard is an oasis - as pictured and complete with hummingbirds, and great communication with owner. We loved the location; close to the Sandia foothills and grocery stores. The neighborhood is very quiet and nice to take walks. The kitchen had everything we needed. Due to ‘user error,’ we couldn’t get the fire pit to light, Eloy came right over and showed us how to do it. Great home away from home experience, thanks Eloy! |

There is a beautiful and relaxing enclosed yard (since the weather was nice, I was able to sit on the patio to work and attend Zoom meetings). The location is great. It's tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, yet within a 5 five minute drive of stores, restaurants and major roads. The tram is about 10 minutes away. I believe the University was about 20 minutes away. Thank you! |

The beautifully decorated home feels like staying with a friend, and both times that we have been here, we have found it to feel safe, clean, inviting and comfortable. The two bedrooms have comfortable queen sized beds with nice sheets, fluffy linens in each bathroom and the kitchen is equipped with everything needed for cooking down to a coffee grinder with beans ready to go and packets of sugar and creamer if you didn't have time to stop at the store before you arrived. The covered outdoor seating area is especially inviting and the new addition of the pergola over the patio/grilling area makes dining and relaxing outdoors a pleasure. An added benefit is that Eloy is very quick to respond if there is a question or concern. Thank you for sharing your property and keeping it maintained and nice! |

The house is beautifully appointed and very clean. Hotels quality bedding and towels, The lovely courtyard provided a comfortable outdoor place to relax ,read and talk on the phone or zoom to family and friends all over the country Eloy the owner is very nice and responsive. No sooner did we request anything the answer was immediate ,PS whether it was an item or a service person. Circumstances allowing, will be back next year! P.S Very fast WiFi!! |

The house was spotless and just as lovely as the pictures. Eloy could not have been more accommodating of our children. We were able to borrow a pack n play and highchair, and the yard was perfect for burning off our toddler's energy! Upon arriving very late from the East Coast, we discovered the microwave didn't work. We alerted Eloy the next day and had a replacement in less than 2 hours. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Eloy, and we would happily choose the Bear House again if we are lucky enough to visit in the future. Thank you Eloy!!! |

Immaculate with comfortable contemporary furnishings ( the beds are terrific) and all of the detailed appointments that make this lodging experience memorable. The photos not do the property or the gardens justice. Generous amounts of coffee, bottled water and cooking basics were provided. The owner even re-supplied seed for the bird feeders! The gardens are much larger and the back patio is very private. We were so pleased that we extended our stay four days. The location is close to everything. Paseo Del Norte, which is less than five minutes away, is lined with restaurants, Trader Joes and all types of retail shops. The Flying Star restaurant on Paseo and Wyoming offers informal dining and fabulous bake goods. A real local favorite. The property offers quick access to either I-25 or I-40 both of which are less than three miles in either direction. If you are going to Santa Fe, take Tramway for spectacular views of the Sandia Mountains. The tram to the top is not to be missed. Santa Fe is less than a 40 minute easy drive. The rental is in a quiet, safe neighborhood. The owner was most accommodating and made sure that we were met on arrival by a couple who welcomed us and provided a tour of all the bells and whistles that the house has to offer. Fresh flowers, a welcoming sign and chocolates in the frig. were a real treat. The owner was immediately available be text or phone for any questions. We have previously used VRBO.com rentals in the United States, Canada and Mexico but this was by far the best. We will certainly return. The "Turtle House" is a very special retreat. |

Our family of four stayed over Christmas, and we were so happy to arrive to the house where they even provided a little Christmas tree, Christmas decorations, and a log in the beautiful fireplace. We cooked Christmas dinner with no problem in the well-equipped kitchen. The beds and bedding were quite comfortable, and we loved watching a movie on the large TV. My elderly mother visited us, and it was such a relief that there were no steps, and there are even handrails in the bathroom. We want to come back when it’s warmer, because the patio looks heavenly. Our hosts were great in communicating with us and making sure we were comfortable. We can’t say enough about how lovely and comfortable this house was for us! |

The owners have managed to create an aura of peace, tranquility and comfort within this home. It is surprisingly bigger than it looks from the outside as it easily accommodates 4 adults; ample sized rooms, beautifully refurbished bathrooms and kitchen equipped with all the essentials, it was hard to leave this home after our 4 day stay. The owners are very helpful in providing directions and suggestions to near by attractions. This home is centrally located and near several local attractions. I was there for the Balloon festival and managed to get to my destination from the Bear Haus in just minutes. I have found my favorite home away from home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Evenings out in the lawn and patio were unforgettable! Peaceful and serene, I left very relaxed, invigorated and rejuvenated....perfect home for rest and relaxation after a day out sight seeing. Can't wait to come back again! The Bear Haus is a great place to hibernate and enjoy your vacation!! Thanks to the Gonzales family we had a great getaway even if only for 4 days!! Definitely a 5 star rating!! Beautiful home! |

The minute we walked through the brown gate door, we were welcomed by a breathtaking view of a very cozy back yard, with green grass, beautifully landscaped area, a comfortable patio built with large imperial pillars. We spent many mornings drinking coffee and enjoying the most stunning sun rises and many amazing evenings enjoying a glass of wine while adoring the most incredible sunsets. Upon walking through the front door, the home was so clean, so orderly, we couldn’t help but feel the immediate comfortable atmosphere of the Bear home. The décor of the home has a touch of southwest with a sophisticated twist that draws you in immediately. The living room area with a cozy fire place, comfy leather couches and a unique cow hide rug made for a very intimate feel. The convenience of having two bathrooms is one that is rare in a two bedroom home, which was definitely one of many conveniences we appreciated. All the amenities of the home made it so easy to stay awhile; it truly was a wonderful home away from home. We would very highly recommend the Bear home. The home is overwhelmingly inviting, our stay was unforgettable and we will most definitely be back! The Bear home has a serene ambiance that makes you want to stay forever. |

While the house was small, the 2 bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms were a comfortable size. The living room/dining room/kitchen were compact, but the floor plan worked very well. The yard and covered patio and table were a big plus, as we spent a long of time outside in both sun and shade. The washer/dryer were great. The owners provided laundry and dish detergent, trash bags, a coffee maker and creamer/sugars, plus napkins and trash bags; also bath soap and shampoo. We used it all. Plus, you could tell that the owners took a lot of pride in the house, with numerous personal touches. Cleanliness is #1 with us, and the house was clean. Another plus was a handy garage. We felt very safe and cared for. We would recommend without hesitation. |

I honestly cannot think of anything this house was lacking for a wonderful and comfortable stay. The quiet neighborhood is great and we appreciated the proximity to the Sandia mountains as well as several nice grocery stores (Sprouts and Whole Foods) and restaurants. It's also a nice area to walk in - pleasant, low traffic, and quiet. Eloy is hands down one of the best hosts I have even encountered and I do a lot of VRBO renting (4 so far this year). He is kind and is very organized and really wants you to enjoy the home and have a nice stay. He met me at the house, showed me around, explained things like the fireplace, outside grill, and cooling system, asked me if I needed anything and was on his way. His wife, Danesa, is also wonderful. We met because I texted Eloy the first morning, asking if the house had a blender. He texted back saying there should be but there was not. He told me not to worry, his wife would "bring one by in about an hour". I am not kidding when I tell you that Danesa had gone out, bought a NEW blender, and brought it over to me! I was not only shocked, I was really amazed and, of course, very appreciative. There are many features of this home that are worth mentioning: very nice open living room with great furniture and Southwest artwork; beautiful kiva fireplace; great outdoor patio and backyard to relax in AND with two ceiling fans to keep you cool while it gets a bit warmer as well as a Weber grill; fantastic kitchen with every utensil and appliance you could ever use (including that new blender); great new washer and dryer right off the kitchen; two large bedrooms with plenty of closet space and hangers; and two bathrooms, the main one with two sinks, and blow dryers - in the showers, they have these great dispensers with nice quality shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion. They did not forget anything! You will LOVE the Bear House - I will be back later this Summer and Fall. |

It is extra clean, meticulously maintained and in a great neighborhood with easy access to all the city's great activities. From the initial contact until the time we arrived, the property owner was professional, courteous, and attentive. The house is beautifully decorated, with some very "homey" touches, such as coffee beans in the grinder, and logs for the fireplace. Since we were there as summer was turning to fall, (warm days/cool nights), the property owner checked with us several times to make sure we didn't need/want the heat turned on. That's just one example of how the property owners went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The only thing that would keep us from whole heartedly recommending this rental to everyone we know would be our desire to keep this gem a secret, to make sure it's available next time we're in the area. But, it's just too good not to share. |

Although it was ideal for us, it would be cozy for a larger group. We enjoyed the french doors out to the patio, for morning coffee as well as evening relaxation. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook full meals. The kiva fireplace was great for a couple of cool evenings. The location of the home was convenient to grocery stores (Smith's and Sprouts), great restaurants (El Patron was one of our favorites), the Sandia Tramway and beautiful hiking in the foothills of the Sandia mountains. My family of 4 had originally contracted to stay at Eloy's VRBO for the last week in May, 2017. We paid him the first payment plus the damage fee to secure the house, which totaled approximately $560. Shortly thereafter, another member of our family, who we did not expect would join us, suddenly found that he could indeed join us. This would make us a party of 5, but Eloy's house specifies that it can accommodate a maximum of 4. I contacted Eloy to see if he could make an exception, noting that the 5th party would be very happy sleeping on a couch, the floor, or even outside in a hammock. He responded that he was sorry but that the house is really only set up for 4, and that he was sure we would not be comfortable with 5. I appreciated the honesty and direct simplicity of that response. He could have said, "sure, but it's going to cost you." Or he could have put up a stink about refunding all of our money due to the inconvenience (we cancelled before the specified 14-day limit, but we were close!). Instead, he said he understood and refunded 100% of the money we'd paid to date, just like that. I want future renters to know that this homeowner is honest, courteous, and conducts his business with integrity. I know that we shall be looking him up for our next stay in Albuquerque. Provided we are a party of 4 or less! |

There were good communications throughout the process and we were greeted warmly as an introduction to the house which is located in a very nice, safe and quiet neighborhood. There is everything here that you need to feel at home. It is spiffy clean and very well maintained. The owner even brought us a blender so we could make our morning smoothies. We loved being so close to the hiking trails in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. The beds and linens were very comfortable and we slept very well after enjoying the beautiful sunshine everyday. For us, the location on the east side was convenient as we headed northeast to Santa Fe one day and up to Tent Rocks and Bandolier another. There are so many restaurants and grocery stores around, you never have to go too far. For our evening walks we headed up to top of the nearby arroyo park to watch the beautiful sunsets. With two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, the home is comfortable for 2 couples. |

Convenient location for anything you might want to do. 20 min to downtown and close to the roads that will take you north to Santa Fe, Abiquiu, or the Turquoise Trail and Madrid for a day trip. Eloy was a wonderful host and joyfully accommodated us for an extra night at the last minute. He showed us through the house then quietly disappeared, except for a text making sure all was well. The owner is not on site. We travel to Albuquerque often and have tried several hotels and houses in different areas. This is now our top pick. As far as the comforts go: spotlessly clean, all appliances/lighting in good working condition, comfy bed, quality sheets, a variety of bed pillows from cushy to firm, nice plush towels, wall-mounted soap/shampoo dispensers in the bathrooms, dish soap, laundry soap, coffee, teas, spices .. I'm not sure there's anything you need to bring other than yourselves. If there were anything else I would want to make this a perfect vacation, I'm thinking a hot tub in that beautiful yard (but I have a hard time even convincing my husband that this a good investment for our house .. So c'est la vie). Thank you Eloy and Denesa. Very nicely done and so welcoming. |

Everything was as pictured and Eloy communicated with texts to make sure we had what we needed. He met us at the house and explained all the nuances and where many local restaurants were as well as shopping and other amenities. The house was very charming and so tastefully decorated with all your needs met. Loved the dispensers in the showers! Kitchen had everything needed for eating in after long days sightseeing. The location of the house was perfectly situated to accessing major highways and roads getting into town for activities and catching the road for some of our day long travels. We took trips up to Sante Fe, Rio Ranchos, the Turquoise Trail ( a must do for a fun day of driving and stopping in quaint locales). Getting into Albequerque was very straight forward and loved the Pueblo Museum and other art/history museums, as well as the tram around town to see what we wanted to schedule for further investigation. Loved New Mexico and the people. Not enough time to do all we wanted but we made a dent and hope to return and will definitely rent the Bear House again!. One bedroom had its own bathroom and the other was just outside the bedroom door in a hallway. The living room had plenty of seating (which we didn't have in the other two homes that we used on our New Mexico trip), and the location of the home was very convenient to the Sandia tram ride and a ballooning trip that we took with Rainbow Ryders while in Albuquerque. There is a private fenced back yard with a porch that we used quite a bit. It was warm (high 80s) when we were there, but they don't have the humidity that we have back east, so it was very comfortable. Plenty of supermarkets and restaurants within a 10 minute drive. The house had a washer & dryer, which was welcome, since our house in Santa Fe didn't have either. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. |

The property is well kept and impeccably decorated and the extra touches from the owner were wonderful. Bedrooms were as described. Beds very comfortable, but one was a little high. Both bathrooms were clean and functioned well. Although we did not use it, the outdoor patio was both inviting and charming. Only complaint was that the kitchen is really small. Since we didn't cook other than make coffee, we had no complaints. If you, however, are cooking for a large family, it could be a challenge. Also note that this location is definitely suburbia. We liked that because it was quiet, both others might prefer to be in the "thick" of the action. I would definitely stay here again. |
